w164 no wipers

Hi everyone,kev from west yorks and new to forums.Had my 2005 ml320 for 6 years with no problems untill now.Front and rear wipers have stopped,srs light on,rear hatch opens on its own.Have had an auto electrician spend over two hours trying to find the fault to no avail.He suspects the rear sam module as it is water damaged.One on order from mercedes but someone has said the front sam is responsible for the wipers,am i wasting my money on the rear?The front one looks like new and bone dry.
