W168 Driver's seat height adjuster

I've just bought a W168 A140 Class Classic (2002), and the driver's seat height adjuster lever simply came off in my hand when trying ( quite reasonably I thought) to adjust the seat height. The previous owner had evidently broken off the internal plastic securing lugs then clumsily glued it back on using silicone sealant.
Being reluctant to contact the garage from where I'd bought it ( they undercharged me in the first place, taxed it and said this tax cost would be added to my final invoice, then forgot to add it), I bought a brand new seat height adjuster on ebay (£9.99, btw).

I simply can't get the bl**dy thing to fix on, .. there must be a knack to doing it...and wondered if anyone could advise me on the technique to actually snap this thing into position?
I'm notoriously cack-handed, & scared of snapping off the plastic lugs on this new part by forcing it.

Any hints would be most gratefully welcomed.

However.
As you said, that's the diagram: it's just how to get that dam P/n 370 to fit onto the lugs of the height adjusting mechanism that's still stumping me.

Thank you very much but....

I think I really need some feedback from one of the illustrious members who've actually managed to attach one of these things successfully to their A classes, without spraining or breaking the 4 flimsy plastic internal lugs on the handle.

Might be asking a little too much, if banging one of these things on isn't in the members' experience, but your quick response is very much appreciated, malcolm, ty.

An excellent forum, btw. No doubt I'll be spongeing on all you guys's experience a lot in the future.

But if anyone out there has actually managed to put one of these things on, yr advice would be appreciated.

Thanks n Regards

:) LOL. These things are i bit of a pain to "just clip on". It is possible to break your new one. I would go to your local dealer , park in the carpark & wait for an unsuspecting technician to wander past. Tell him you've just bought it but can't get it on. If he breaks it, he'll probably get it replaced free of charge. Worth a go. ;)

a class seat handle

Hello, I am new to this online help stuff. The reason the handle does not fit is that the metal part it fits onto needs a bit of adjustment.
There are four metal parts sticking out of where the handle fits onto, the one towards the back needs bending slightly to the front so as you look at it straight on it is facing forwards slightly. The handle should push on relatively easily. Not sure how to show you a picture or describe this any better, sorry.
