W168 key... again!

Hello,

I have a problem with my W168.

I accidentally damaged both the remote controls. I can drive the car but the central locking doesn't work.

Bought one of the infamous ebay keys and the remote light on the key comes on unlike both my remotes, but I can synchonize it to open the car.

I swapped the transponder and blade to the new key so the car drives fine with the "new" key.

Is it possible to program in any way? if not... are my remotes fixable?

It may be possible to fix,it depends on what has broken.

Welcome to the forum, these things cost £200 each.

If you care to post one to me I can try and fix, and I do not charge for trying

there is a process for resynch of the key, cant think of it exactly now, but ill post up tomnorrow, worth a try,

Press any button twice and insert into ign within 30 sec

It's a Portuguese car by the way, but that shouldn't make any difference anyway.

You are right, its just bounced back

This key could never have worked for a long time as the is no emitting LED fitted, someone has broken it off, that is why there is no red LED when you push the button, the batteries are down to 0.0654 volt.

I can fit a new one and try it

Where did the LED go too

Even if I make ti function, there is no guarantee that the coding has not been upset.

Yep...

the other key still had the led but there's another thing missing. I'll show you after this one is tested.

Maybe the ebay key is good for spares.

Yes the Ebay key can be good for parts, if it is in better condition than the one that I have here, I could change it all over, you PCB looks good and un damaged

I will fit a sensor temporary and you can see if it works, then if it comes off again as there is nowhere to fit it correctly then you can get one from Ebay and I can change them over

Ok... I have a spare key from ebay. If it works I'll post it all back to you with the second key to get it finished without any fault.
