Help please. On my 2011 MB A class (W169) , today popped up a ESP warning light. On setting off to come back home, we could not get the selector out of P, but eventually found some instructions on line to manually release it.

I have plugged my Foxwell code reader in, and it’s thrown up a few codes, namely canbus errors and a brake light switch failure. (I have checked the latter but the brake lights are working fine)

Any ideas where to look further?

The brake light switch is in 2 parts, 1 can fail but the lights still work.

Go with switch. Normally cheap enough if you can't clear fault.
