Hello all, W169 A150, 53,000 miles, fully sunthetic oil, manual transmission.
Has anyone had this problem?
Although my car is noisy and rattles sometimes worse than others from the drivers side top of the engine at tickover it does seem quiet & smooth when driving, but recently of more concern there is a new noise from the belt side of the engine that is a sort of chuffing noise?
Its rythmic about 1 second intervals not at all metallic , its not related to revs or the engine itself and can be heard as the same steady sound under all conditions never gets any louder or worse but its constant.
The engine does not hunt, the revs are rock steady and no codes on a hand scanner.
I am going to try to get underneath, is there anyting to look out for in the V belt area?
Would take it to the main dealer but they failed to tighten a handbrake cable when asked and they had the car for nine hours, doesnt give me alot of confidence.
Thanks
