Hi, last night I had to use my front fog lights which worked fine but noticed the small orange warning light (on the front of main light switch) didn't glow when I turned them on. This combined main light switch/fog warning light was replaced just three months ago as the bulb had previously blown apparently, causing the old girl to fail her MOT, which the previous owner sorted before selling to me. However, now the new owner and 300 miles from the MB garage who serviced/MOT'd her, I feel that the new MB light switch bulb should last more than three months. Does anyone know if the small orange bulb/light itself can be replaced, or does the switch - at a cost of £47 - need replacing AGAIN. Or could it be a fuse problem?

Any suggs welcome.

Much thanks

Adrian

On my W201 the little orange light just comes on when you pull the switch out to turn on the rear fog light, i have no warning light for the front fogs, mine is a 91 model.

Doh! I just checked and you're quite right. The bulb only glows when you have the back fogs on, not just the front. Many thanks Ian!

The bulb on these switches is easily replaced. Grip the rotary switch using pliers padded with cloth and pull hard ,the bulb is in the centre of the spindle and just pulls out. Mini capless bulb 12v/1w I think. Don't know why the switch would have been replaced because the bulb had blown!!.

C220GJS, that's a good tip. Am filing it away for when the bulb DOES go. An easy buck for the MB dealer, of course. It's also general laziness: replace, don't fix. Really poor. Thanks

small capless bulbs

I have two of these bulbs blown out from the dashboard heater switches, I was desperately looking for a replacement but could not find them, do I have to go to the dealers?

Cheers,
