Hi all,

My 1995 C180 seems to stay in 3rd gear a long time and I'm wondering if that's normal. Regardless of whether I'm in E or S mode, I get a quick shift just after setting off (engine cold or warm) but then the car stays in 3rd gear up until about 4500 revs before changing to 4th. Also, should I 'feel' the torque converter lock up after changing into 4th? Can't say that I notice it at all. At 70mph on the motorway I'm doing around 3500 revs and I thought autos generally speaking revved lower than manuals at cruising speeds. Any opinions much appreciated!

dont know specifically about your problem but for peace of mind, my c180 does the same sort of rev/speed that you mention (having said that, if yours does have a problem, then mine may have the same !!!)

Thanks. Do you suffer the same firm shift between 3rd and 4th gear?
