W202 automatic problems

I've just had a major service on my 1998 C280 that included an automatic gear box fluid and filter change. I had experienced some minor problems with sticking changes when starting off. Now things are much worse, gear box will not go into top and kick down does not seem to work. Any ideas? Do I need to find someone with a diagnostic machine to sort the problem? Thanks in anticipation as previous request for help have always come back trumps.

The gearbox fluid level must be checked, thats the first thing to do

Sorry for stating the obvious, but on start up the gear box will hang in second for a while to heat up the cats'.

Some idiot (me) thought he was having problems until Ollie set me right.
