The indie sorted my boot problem out to an extent. It wouldn't stay up unless fully opened, turns out the spring connection had come away. Now however it stays up when opened, but makes a loud crank when opening fully and closing. How can I stop this. Plus when the boot is released from inside the car or the fobe it just opens, does not spring full up and open.
How do I fix this problem

The noise will be where the spring is touching the metal part of the hinge, try a piece of plastic or cardboard between the two and see if this stops the noise.

Sounds like the springs are connected in the wrong holes. Try removing the trim and see where the springs touch the metal, there are several holes in which the springs can be connected - try different set-ups and see which ones solves your problems!
