Hi..

I have recently fitted new rear coilsprings to me C class..
I got them from Mercedes & gave them Vin code so i presumed that they are the correct ones for a sport..which i believe is lower than a standard estate.

But it doesn't look or seem to drive right..looks like the rear is higher than the front now & seems to handle different..was better with broken springs.

Ive looked at the Tech data for Standard & sport, sport is lower vehicle height.
So where would i measure it from? floor to top of roof, or floor to top of roof rack?
Or just take it to Merc to suss it out..surely they wouldn't have given me the wrong springs?

Any ideas?

I would think the best measure would be from the bottom of the arch to the centre of the wheel.

Wrong springs

After a few months of driving a car with bouncy rear suspension ive finally got it sorted..so sports model owners beware!!

After replacing the broken rear suspension springs on my c class sport estate & being assured they were the right springs for the car from Mecedes..it handled like a bag of ****e.
I managed to find another C200k sport estate & the owner let me measure the suspension height (from wheel centre to w/arch) as suggested.
The difference between mine and the rear of his was a whopping 50mm!!

I managed to speak to the parts manager at Merc & he found yet another set of springs hiding on his system to which the previous person missed..

SO BEWARE!!.. if you need rear springs & take note..if you have a w202 sport there are 9 total coils on REAR sports springs..standard has 10.

Now the correct springs have been fitted it drives like a sporty Merc again.

But managed to get a nice baseball cap & cam sensor wiring upgrade for nowt for the trouble of doing the job twice.

Alan.
