I am considering buying a cheap '95 C220D (non turbo) with about 120k miles. I have heard that they only produce a woeful 75bhp and with the weight of a saloon to drag around, I imagine they are no ball of fire. Obviously I am not after anything rapid (otherwise I wouldnt be looking at a diesel) but have heard the MPG is quite poor too so these two factors combined are starting to put me off a bit, plus the fact its only a basic "Classic" spec. Really only after a daily run about to work and back but only want to suffer a diesel if the MPG is worthwhile....roughly 70 mile round trip everyday.

Any advice or alternatives that I should consider :?:

Thanks

I've had a C250TD in the past, did 20k in it, never had a prob apart from putting petrol in it once, even that didn't harm it when it was drained. Anyhow, decent performance/economy mix, nice build, nice car. What more can I say.

Thanks for your reply. Your performance would be better though as you have a bigger capacity engine and also a turbo!

Will have a think on it....

Cheers for your reply

Of course the performance would be better, it's got 150 as opposed to 75 horses.

What I said was 'decent performance/economy mix' ..... I'm sure I don't need to explain that ?

OK I will, it did 40mpg urban or motorway, 0-60 in 9-10 seconds, cruise all day at 90mph, top speed 120mph. It was a very good car, perhaps the best I've had. A mate drove it, next news he'd bought a new one. He sold that, but has since bought another for his son-in-law. We've both had a lot of different cars.

Can recommend the C250TD to you if you can afford it m8 :)
