The complete cluster has to be dismantled ,,and the ribbon cable connectors tightened up

Sorry there is nothing in print on this as they were not intended to be repaired. In side you have ribbon cables and these need cleaning and packing out so that connectors are a good fit, most manage the mileometer but fail on the clock

He says it’s the clock and the temperature Malcolm, the reason I ask is because I think the temperature is a plug in unit without the ribbon. It’s all in the way I read the post.

the bulbs are a piece of cake to fix

hiw yourself off down to a good motor factor or mercedes and get the replacement bulbs before you do the job.
Search the site for 202 cluster removal, there are sone great how-tos here.
The bulbs just twist out and new ones twist in, once you have the cluster out and disconnected.

There is a how too here…
http://202tech.mkosonen.com/howto/instrument.html
There is no need to remove the steering wheel.
When removing the cluster, be sure the ignition is off while the two plugs to the rear of the cluster are disconnected, you can keep the keys in the ignition so you can move the steering wheel as you maneuver the cluster from the dash, just keep the ignition off.

Replace all 3 bottom bulbs… temperature, mileage and clock as the are on all the time and so have the shortest life span.

Proper puller hooks…
