Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
To remove the dome light you need to remove the two lamp lenses, these simply pull off from the rear edge of the cover, once removed you will see a couple of clips, simply prise these clips slightly towards the front of the car and pull the dome light fitting down and towards the rear of the car, and it simply unplugs.
I saw a used one going cheap on flea bay if you need to replace it. I think the guy was breaking the whole car. I was tempted on some alloy's he had but got to watch the pennies at the mo.
Cheers lads, not sure why its saying one post, maybe the system clears itself after a bit of none use?? I had a facelift c180 at the start of the year, could have sworn I'd used the site then, maybe not, darned old age LOL
When I say faulty, I perhaps wrecked it by tring o fit an LED style 501 bulb into the map reading light, which blew a fuse, then the second attempt blew a fuse but before doing so I heard some sizzling, and now when I switch the map ligh on, all three of dome lights come on. . . . . . .
