W202 Instrument panel lights

I have a 1998 C280 Elegance auto. Grateful if anyone can advise if the light switch to the right of the stering wheel should be illuminated. If so how does one get access?

I'm sure that these sorts of questions can be answered by a workshop manual but the Haynes one for the W202 does not cover the 280 model. I've seen all singing and dancing DVD versions offered on Ebay but as these claim to cover all Mercedes models made from the begining of time I am a little dubious just how much use they are. Has anyone ever tried them and have a view?

The light switch does not illuminate.

The only part of it that illuminates is the orange blob in the middle when you have it pulled all the way out for the foglamps,

Just say as Selsdon above that it does not light up with the normal lights.
