Firstly.....

Need to replace some lights in my instrument panel but I'm having one hell of a job trying to get it out.

It's a W202 '94. I've dropped the lower trim got my hands in behind the cluster but no matter what the thing doesn't budge.

Have also tried using some wire to hook the panel out as some people have described. No luck this way either

The panel does give slightly from the left as you look at it but the right side is firmly stuck.

Do I need to REALLY force it from behind ? I have applied quite a bit of force on it as it is.

Secondly.....

My heater is stuck on hot. No matter where I set the dial it blows out hot air at about 70% setting. How can I access the heater ? I have tried pulling the knobs off for a start but even they won't budge a bit. Is there a detailed method in order to get behind the heater control panel ?

Any help would be really appreciated :(

Re the instrument cluster, they are tight and they get stuck, I always push from behind its the only safe way, It will come out,May be easier when the car is warm. first push from one side, and then the other.

Don't be so quick to strip the heater. Do a search on this forum for duovalve and monovalve and go from there.

OK Success with getting the panel out, thanks for that :D

Now the heater......

If I get the duovalve out can it be cleaned or will I need a new one ? I've tried searching the forum but I can't find any instruction as what to do once I've got it out ? Can you point me to the right bit please ?:(

I reckon you are right, it must be that that's gone if it's default is HOT.

Do a search, Mercedes duo valve, lot of info out there on this, mainly US sites but much cheaper than the UK. Many people do fix them themself.
