Hi

I have had a starnge problem with my 96 W202 key fob, i took that batteries out from it and since replaced with new batteries and the fob does not deactivate the alarm.

The fob does transmit a infa red beam as i checked this with the digital camera but the red led flash seems to be really weak and does not flash as bright as it used to?

Luckily i have a spare which im using but would appreciate any suggestions as to what has caused this and if there is a possible fix?

Thanks

Raj

By the way, if you press and hold the fob whilst looking at it, it should flash a red LED anyway to visually show the battery strength and/or whether its working.

The working test is done with a digital camera

These keys send out a string of codes all rolling, any slight joint or component deviation could do it.

The problem is for me is it it is sending a sring of codes, I have no way or seeing if that is correct

Makes you think sometimes it makes sense to keep a hold of the key just in case....

i potentially could have been £200 lighter if i decided to replace (luckily i have a spare)
