The dashboard switch, responsible for dropping the rear headrests has ceased to operate. Is there a means whereby I can manually drop the rear headrests pending fault investigation as, in the upright position, they impair my rear view when reversing?

The headrests are operated by the vacuum syystem. Does the central locking work OK?
If yes suspect switch. You can drop them by applying vacuum directly to the lines, even sucking on the line will operate them.
