Hello, I can fold my 2001 W203 mirrors in to the car when I manually press the button when parking up... but can these be set to be folded in automatically when the car is locked with the fob?

Many thanks,.

2002 SL500, 216 CL500, all fully loaded
I believe that it is only possible on the face lift version.

Someone else will answer

If you have to keep your finger on the button until they are folded, then probably not. If you just press and release and they continue folding, then possibly yes

I have a W203 c class and wanted the mirrors to fold on locking. I have the function to manually fold but not the setting on the dash. My local Ind MB dealer can set them to fold on locking but advised against due to the amount of wiring he has replaced in c class's when this function is used

c class and slk
Having just taken my mirrors tp pieces i was thinking along the same lines. The wiring loom wires dont look to strong to me.and i believe the loom cannot be purchased seperatily.
Has anyone had problems in this area?

Seems strange, I'm sure MB have spec'd the wiring to withstand constant folding. After all one can do it manually every time one parks/locks so no difference to auto fold.
My dealer diligently lubs the mechanism everytime it goes in and has never commented on how a C class shouldn't have auto fold mirrors.

Why must the key be in position 2 to fold the mirrors?

One irritating thing, at least on my W209 CLK, is that the mirrors fold / unfold on the pressing of the relevant button - but only when the ignition key is turned to position 2.
Most annoying this - as I’ve usually stopped, switched off and removed the key (leccy seat moved back and steering wheel moved up) and climbed out. Then I decide it might be a good idea to fold the mirrors in.
The only way to do this is to replace the key and turn it, whereupon the seat and wheel move back to ‘operating’ position and the seatbelts pop out - then, and only then can the mirrors be folded. Remove the key again and the seat and wheel perform their dance yet again.
Why isn’t there a time lag - like with the electric windows, giving maybe a minute or so after removing the key so you can just lean in, press the button and have them fold. Simple..
….or, am I missing something???

Ok,
I have one touch folding mirrors with the button, and a setting in the convenience system saying "Mirror Parking Setting.
This is set to "On".

Now what else do I need to do to get them folding in, caus although its set to on in convenience, they dont fold in when locking the car.

Thanks for any further info.

Mirror parking setting position makes the near side one angle down towards the kerb upon engaging reverse (but only if the that side's button is pressed on the dash).

Ahhh.. thanks Doug.
I guess I dont have folding mirrors then via the remote.
That puts that idea to bed!

Many thanks for your replies helping me out on this topic.
