W203 2001 C320 Wheel Size?

Hello my C320 has 16 inch alloys on it.
There seems to be quite alot of room above the tyres before the wheel arches.
What size alloys and wheels is it possible to put on to look good?
I also want to get wider rubber than the standard wheels currently on this model.

You're making the standard mistake in thinking that bigger wheels will fill the arches better. The overall size of the wheel doesn't change whether you run 15" wheels or 18". The bigger the wheel, the smaller the tyre sidewall has to be to compensate and the overall diameter of the tyre remains the same. If you change this aspect, your speedo and ESP will be messed up.
If you want to close the gap, you must lower the car with smaller pads and/or shorter springs.

Thanks for your posts.

I understand what you are saying jberks, it makes sense and thank you. In some ways though the larger alloys look to fill the gap more due to them filling up the space with more metal.

I am actually looking to put wider tyres on more than anything, so will investigate your chart television.
