W203 2004 C-CLASS BONNET LATCH

My bonnet (hood) won't release after pulling on the protruding front-grill tab. Is there any easy way to get to the bonnet safety catch to release the bonnet?

Worth getting someone to press down on the bonnet by the two catches (one either side) whilst you pull the lever to take the tension off of the mechanism.
