Hi, I have three problems which I hoped someone may have some experience of.

1) I went to start my car today and it seems I had a near flat battery. I have noticed that this morning both indicators were flashing of their own accord, as if the alarm had been triggered, but there was no sound from the alarm and the hazzrard warning switch was defintely off. This is a new one on me, and only started today.

2) There is no air to the footwells from the ventilation system. If I turn the fan control right up, then a lovely stream of air comes out at the windscreen, ot the vents when I fiddle with the air direction controls, but if I selct the footwell only setting it really sounds as if it is blowing air into an enclosed space inside the dash somewhere, and no air somes out in any of the footwells. Is the ducting control thingy easy to get too to see if it has got stuck or jammed?

3) I have a problem with my rear antiroll bar bushings. I took it to the garage and they checked the bushings and they need replacing, and I am sure that this is also the source of something that sounds exactly like a loose block of wood rattling around in the back of my car when I go over little bumps in the road or down a very uneven road, but what worries me is the amount of skip the car goes through, it's kind of like a little sideways jump which I notice moves the car to the right hand side when I go over small holes in the road. Does anyone know if this might be linked to the bushings and just another symptom of them being worn, or if this is a different problem I need to address?

Thank you in advance.

Richard

I know I was a little vague with my previous post, which doesn't give anyone an edge to help identify what the problem on my car might be, but it the alarm problem appears to have resolved itself.... since the rain stopped.

My car also developed a sound, not unsimilar to an empty tin can being dragged along the floor. It made this sound when stationary when the brakes were applied so I could shift into drive or reverse. It defintely made this sound when the brakes were applied no matter what position the gearbox was in, even neutral, and the sound came from under the bonnet, near side high up towards the windscreen.

All of these problems developed after leaving the car out in the rain all night, and all of these problems seem to have resolved themselves after the rain stopped and I put the car back under the carport.

Is it me, or does it sound a bit like water ingression into something.

Any advice on any seals that are known to be a problem on W203s would be greatly appreciated.

If you put up your VIN number I can check any known fault

Anti Roll bar Bushes

I also have to replace bushes on rear anti roll bar.An easy job Bushes are only £3-50 each.Depending on year a modified roll bar was fitted, dealer told me no bushes available you have to fit complete bar.If the back end is skipping you might need drop links also.

Re the heater, Actuate button recirculated air and defrost

Both LED's flash
when the learn in procedure is completed the LED's stop flashing

This sets up all of the flaps.

I believe there's a recall on some WDB203 C classes about a missing cover under the bonnet which allows water ingress. Sounds like it could be your problem. I'd check it out with a dealer.

So, let me get this straight, I hold down both recirculate button AND defrost button at the same time and this will kind of reboot the heating system, a bit like the "reset the throttle" trick?

I may have to go and hold down random combinations of buttons to see what I can achieve! This is like hacking or modding a computer game!

Don't suppose you know how to reset the infrared sensor in the drivers door do you? The automatic window lift feature seems to have stopped despite me liberally spanking both the key and the door handle.

I'll check the missing cover syndrome out with a dealer in the morning, but there have been no malfunctions since I started putting the car back under the carport instead of leaving it on the drive.

Maybe it was upset with me.
