W203 bonnet soundproofing melt

Hi all

I was looking under my bonnet (hood) the other day and noticed that the soundproofing attached to the underside of the bonnet is starting to melt and shrink on one small place. It is directly over the exhaust manifold. There seems to be lots of heatshielding around the manifold but none above it. Should there be some ? W203 C180K May'03

You need to take it back to the dealer as its still under warranty.

Not sure if there should be a heat shield, if not, they need to do more than just replace the soundproofing!

I did notice this - just above the exhaust maniford, sound damper material was peeling off. I took it to MB dealer who inspected it and booked the car for a replacement (c180K Estate - 2003). When I collected it, the new sound damper membrane was a different design and has a alu foil area just above exhaust manifold. You should take your car to dealer. I think it is design fault and mb should be able to replace under warranty.
