Hi Guys

I have a 2001 C200K. My battery is 5 years old and seems fine touch wood! It is an original Merc battery rated at a massive 100ah (amp hour) . I rang merc for a quote £122 plus vat!

If you have replaced a battery, what make did you buy? Was you able to get 100ah? Do Bosch do a battery for it?

Any help appreciated.

Also has anyone bought a merc manual off ebay? One of the elecatroic versions. I purchased one but it did not work as it it was a minus R dvd and required all of the details to be put onto my hardrive.

Regards

Mick

Most UK RHD W203's were recalled for a potential fault with the battery. As a result many of the batteries were replaced under warranty / goodwill.

Have a look at this thread:

http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/showthread.php?t=11325

I had the battery on my W203 C320 replaced under this 'recall'. Worth checking with Mercedes Customer Assistance in Maastricht (on the free 00 800 number), or with your dealer.

You will need to quote your VIN number to see if your vehicle was effected & rectified...

Hope this helps. by the way if I had to change the battery I would go for a Mercedes branded one (even though it's probably made by Bosch anway).

So has anyone else bought another make of battery apart from a merc one? What about a manual?

In spite of what many people say, there is little difference in the top brand names, many of them come down the same production lines. I would say avoid house names like Halfords, it they go down under guarantee, and they can and do, the fight for a replacement is not worht the £5 saving.
