Could I ask anyone with a car like mine for your help.I think I may have a problem with the climate control.
It seems to take a long time to warm up on these cold mornings 4-5 mls,I don't get a lot of air at the drivers footwell even with the fan fully on and the control set pointing down and at this setting the screen mists up inside.
I only travel 6 mls to work and park up.In the evening I find the rear screen full of condensation inside.I cant find any water leaks into the car anywhere.
Also, evan after fitting a new thermostat, the temp gauge only reads 80 deg.
I have fitted a new pollen filter so shouldn't be a problem there.
What is the best combinatoin of settings on the various controls.I have followed the instructions in the manual but they don't work very well.

Sorry to be so long winded but this car has got my head done in,what with the shot suspension bushes and various other things on an 80k car I just need to get through the winter with a bit of comfort then by by mercedes and never again.I must have the worst one ever made.

Firstly I would give the front and rear screens a really good clean inside and out. The greasy film builds up slowly so you don't really notice it until we get into the cold weather and the screens always seem to be steamed up.

Sad to say that all the early W203 C classes are pretty much as bad.

Isnt your heating problem simply because diesels take a long time to heat up and 4-5 miles isnt really enough for the engine to get fully warm?

Even with my preheater switched off it has warmed up within a mile enough to lift the temp gauge off the stop.

I used to put a piece of cardboard over half of the rad, it worked well.you have a temperture gauge so you can see whats going on.

Your fans are not coming on to early are they ?

I have to go up and down a steep hill within the first mile and by the time I get 3/4's up the other side the temp gauge has moved up and the first heat is coming through. When it is really cold I will switch the preheater back on and start the car whilst I drink my cofffee (it's not on the street, so legal)

Many thanks for all your comments.A preheater would be a very nice thing to have and on a timer would be even better as on a freelander.
