Hi all,

Bought a really cheap lowish mileage run-around 2003 220 Cdi, all good mechanically, 12 m MOT...

Anyway, its got an intermittent knocking sound coming from the front (when going on speed ramps and bumpy roads), so had it checked by a couple of garages..

Their verdict: the passenger side lower arm ball joint is worn with some play. And both track rod ends are also worn out. (tbh these were on the MOT advisory)

My questions are

- Is this something that needs to be done as a matter or urgency?
- What sort of price am I looking at?
- Can anyone recommend a good garage in West Kent (Sevenoaks area) if I was to get this done, or it ok to get kwikfit/ATS do it?

Thanks in advance.

Urgency depends on how many miles your planning on doing. If you do a lot of mile daily then I'd suggest getting it done ASAP. As far as cost goes that depends on where you go I'd say in the region of £400??

Thanks! I'm doing about 60 miles a day.

I was quoted £350 by kwikfit.

Is it a job better left to an Indie?

Cheers

Whatever you decide , don’t go to Kwik fit unless you need tyres

And if you do need tyres, still don’t go there...

Maybe you shouldn't go to Kwik Fit then! Actually l wouldn't go there either, nor to any other fast fit type outfit and definately not with a Merc. Indy every time for me.

Hahaha some funny replies! Point taken - I will not go to kwikfit.

Cheers for the recommendation of AMF.... will give him a call!

Thanks once again!
