W203 C220 CDI 'hissing' while cornering

My 2002 C220 CDI Coupe has started to emit what I can best describe as a 'hissing' or 'breathing out' sound, audible from the cockpit, while turning (and especially when going uphill), usually when engine is coldish. Power steering? Belt slip? (the belt is fairly taut - no difference to usual). No adverse effects obvious. Mileage 152k

A problem?

Thanks, any idea how to test this - easy to do? DIY job?
Due to no Haynes manuals for the W203, where is the hose?

Have you found any loss in power, or even the car unwilling or slow to rev up, a split hose would cause power loss

No loss of power, nothing untoward at all, and haven't done any major work on the car either. Its because it only happens while cornering slowly that makes me question (Colchelle's suggestion) whether it has anything to do with the turbo hose. Unfortunately I can't get out of the car and listen under the bonnet while the car is moving to find out more!

Well as far as im aware he is a fully fledged Mb technician so dont let him away with it ...there is a train of thot that they are taught to give the wrong answer first time just to make it look difficult

Had the exactly the same thing with my c220cdi coupe. Same noises, same symptoms.
Colechelle's right, it's almost certainly a split in the turbo hose.
Approx £30 (if I remember right) from main dealer.

As for Colechelle giving 'wrong information', he's been an extremely helpful contributor to this forum with his informed knowledge, and most certainly does not try to deceive anyone.

??? What.

The intercoolers have a tendency to split as do the boost hoses. Rev the car stationary and listen under the bonnet for the loud hissing nosie.

+1 and also check for a blocked rear cat and the gasses being forced out of the joint.

it might be a silly fault like low power steering fluid & what you hear is the pump sucking air when turning

OK, this has been playing on my mind now, i wasn't going to even bother replying! but seeing as this is a personal attack towards me i feel i have to!!

For one, my job bares no meaning on this site, this site is hear to give advice and try to help others with problems they might have!! we sometimes get it right and times we might get it wrong!!

As for "we are taught" what planet are you on??? do you think i sit here for hours trying to give people the wrong advice?? In my department the customer comes first and the car second, hence the name Customer service!!

And as for the "don't let him away with it" Well, what do you suggest, he takes me to court for making a suggestion!!!!

I have helped out many people on this site but its reading S..t like this makes me wonder is it worth it!!!! trying to help people and i have to read this kind crap said about me!!!!!!!!!

+1 Col.........

+2 col....... people do not have to take our advise, all we can do is try and help but its quite difficult to diagnose a fault over the internet. comments like this will shy people away from givin advise.

I actually thot it was a good humoured comment and they say BMW drivers have no sense of humour .. who would even doubt the guys credentials .. it was meant to be a compliment.. so my sincere apologies colechelle if you felt any discord, I have the greatest respect

Just read all this and I'm sorry for starting this off, quite unintended!
Back to my problem, thanks for all the advice, will look at the turbo hose (but where is it - is it a diy job? - see my earlier comment about lack of Haynes Manuals). Maybe I'm thick but the noise is evident even at 2 mph when turning in the drive when cold - can this be the turbo even with no acceleration?. The noise stops as soon as the steering wheel straightens up
