I posted a wee while ago regarding the replacement of a thermostat and received the worksheet from Malcolm (thansk again).

Now my question is what tools did everyone use to get at the bottom right hand bolt, is there a requirment for a flexible shaft on the socket set?

Does the oil filter cover require to be removed to gain better access?

If it had to be removed,it would be mentioned on that job sheet

The thermostat is held in by three bolts, it is the right hand side bolt that is a bugger.

If the oil filter cover looks easy take it off,you may need a new gasket to re fit it

I removed mine whilst changing the thermostat, makes that bottom bolt much easier to remove, dont forget to cover the filter opening..kitchen roll/towel.. just in case something drops down...
Also it allows beter access for removing and fitting the new thermoststat

Do you need to replace the gasket as Malcolm mentioned? Did you use the correct tool for this?

I think that you can change it without a special tool

i have read a number of the posts with regard to thermostats, and my W203 C200 kompressor is struggling to get up to temperature - after 1 hr on motorway it seems to sit at max 60 degrees, and teh heater performance is cr**. I have ordered a thermostat in the hope this fixes it - and i have checked the settings menus and i have no option for heating control as described on a few threads.

Any other ideas or does everybody think this is likely to be the culprit.
