(I don't have pre-wire which I think affects the version of armrest)

Opening the top section of my armrest reveals what looks like some purposefully placed slots on the underside of the cover.

What are these for?

Just found them last week after 18 months, I think they are credit card holders, seem right size?

so the mechanics (why are they still called that?) can debit your card quicker?
I did wonder that but surely nobody does keep them there?

Nice pic...but I am still lost as to what they could be for.

Wonder if I have them in my car, I will have a look later

maybe they're teeth and that's how it eats?

Have you tried leaving any food in it?

I've heard they're fond of fish. Leave a kipper in it overnight and see if it's still there in the morning.

would be ironic if they were for sunglasses / spectacles given that I was wondering where to keep them. But sunglasses holders are much bigger, rotate and have a mirror at the top...

No - but we did live east of London for a while - maybe its one of the Crays?

Well I just had a look inside our car and yes we have that too. I'm surprised anyone ever looks there to be honest

At first I wondered if they were vents for air con as there is air con in the bit underneath it isn't there

Has anyone looked in the manual?

Doh!

That's tantamount to asking for directions.

Yeah I should have realised that when I posted :p

Actually I did look in my manual and there is nothing in there that says what it is for

A seemingly confident answer tom - and therefore the current winner...
MB must be expecting them to break down a lot still then...

Maybe there is a reccommended number of credit cards over which to spread the (exhorbitant) repair costs?
