W203 Electric Window Problem

Hi Folks, I own a 2005 C230 and recently my drivers window has stared to go up really slowly, however the last 2 inches going up, it speeds up again. When I bought the car 2 years ago there was a slight rattle inside the door which I have just left, however this has got a lot more worse recently, like something is loose inside and that has coincided with the window problem. As soon as the rattle or loose part got worse the window started playing up. No clunking or grinding noises. Any suggestions/ remedies or ideas? Please! I really want to try and rectify this myself if poss.

The cables are starting to get rusty and frayed on these cars now. It’s just an age thing I’m afraid. My very own C32 started to do this, then one day there was a horrible noise as I opened the window, and the glass dropped to the bottom of the door. The cable had finally snapped. Yours might be facing a similar issue. Door card off for investigation I’d suggest
