The oil in the engine and the frequency of change is key,I always change before service due sticker date,always recommended specification premium grade engine oil and filter,along with using premium diesel fuel.
I prefer the oil drained rather than the siphon option.
The reason for frequency of change is the town and suburb daily driving,sometimes after a drive the engine has not reached normal working temperature,probably not the best for the oil.
I am requesting the service center to retain the oil filter next time for analysis.

I had a C180 w203 with 250k miles on it for a while. Ran perfectly.

WOW...which engine was in it? A few years ago, one of the in-laws had a 124 300 turbo diesel, and it had 300'000 miles on it when he bought it, ( and he reckoned that it had been clocked ) He proceeded to put another genuine 300'000 miles on it ( Taxi ) and after selling it to a friend, it drove away happily for several more years. It was always serviced above and beyond the call of duty though. Even so, 600'000 + unknown mileage, was quite an achievement,
