2005 C230 - All I want to do is remove the door mirror covers to clean around the indicator repeater lens. (Gone green with moss like growth).
I have read other posts but do not understand them. Can anyone give me exact instruction on how to do this. Maybe with photo's. Thanks in advance.

An alternative is to use some strong vinegar about 8% proof or a little more,,by using a paint brush and working it in around the joints and seams will dissolve it and it will not hurt the plastic or the paint,,it is water soluble

If you would rather take the covers off, then just fold them towards the rear of the car and you will see a square hole in the center of the rear edge with a silver clip in the hole, just press the clip in and the cove slides off,,vinegar is still good for removing the moss safely

Thanks for advice. I am having trouble locating the silver tab. I have a photo of my folded mirror which I could send to you if you let me know your e-mail address. Thanks

Thanks Malcolm,
Much appreciated!
Where it says press retaining clip back , is that towards the rear of the car?
Or inwards to the side of the car?
Sorry to be a pain but I hate to force things too much incase of damage.

Thats ok just push it in the direction towards the front of the mirror or one could say press it in as you see it, only a little to release the cover

Well, had a go today as it stopped raining!
Could there be more than one version of door mirror because there is no way
that the silver metal thing is a relase clip of any sort. I managed to remove the plastic cover piece which allowed me to see inside.
My car is a 2005 facelift model with electric foldable door mirrors with Led repeaters. Perhaps a redesign?

All sorted now. Many thanks to Colechelle who came to my house and showed how to remove the covers, thanks Colin.
Also thanks to Malcolm, I guess I just wasn't brave enough to poke around for the catch:)
There was a lot of green slime in there which has discoloured the sealing strip
so perhaps I will renew that one day.
