I've had a rear-end rattle on my c-class for a few months now. Everything under the car seems solid, and neither myself nor garage has been able to locate the noise, so far...
Today I had the covers off underneath, and whilst I couldn't see anything loose (exhausts, cables, heat shields etc), I can hear a loud rattling noise when I thump the fuel tank. Sounds like something loose inside.
I've found a few threads about loose tank baffles on the SLs, but nothing on the W203. Has anyone experienced this? Is there a fix other than removing the tank?
