A Warm welcome Hoggrock:D,

Is your engine temp coming up sufficiently, i.e is the running temp around 80 degrees. Check this first. Bearing in mind this may take a good few mins of driving

If the engine is not warming up then the fault could be a suck thermostat or none functioning heater booster. Check its switched on on the instrument cluster settings.

If the engine warms up ok, the the problem is in the heater system, most likely the circulation pump.

Hope this give you a start.

How easy or difficult was it to change? did you loose a large amount of anti freeze? I think I need to change my thermostat but not feeling too confident at tackling it.

Hi Television, I seem to have the same problem as Hoggrock with my 2002 C 220 CDI. My mechanic changed the switch panel, but the problem was not solved! Any advice would be appreciated

Hi ,
I too have the same problem. The car is a W203 C220CDI. Currently the direction of the heater is not consistent as getting heat to the feet is difficult. I tried the reset sequence but the lights kept flashing aster 10 minutes.

Whilst driving the engine temperature according to the guage reads around 50 degrees after about 10 miles but with the blower on it is still only look warm...

Just been through disconnecting the water jacket heater but it apparently shouldn't adversly affect the heating..

Any suggestions??

Thanks

I feel that 50c will not work well in a heater matrix for when the fan is on the heat will be much reduced

Sorry that merc tart post did not get an answer, it can be hard sometimes to work the faults out

You can certainly change the thermostat, but the water jacket heater does speed up the warm up

Some people have had success in just changing the thermostat, but a few have not. I can send you a "how to"

Just had mine changed today Now goes up to 80c within 3 miles.I thought the thermostat was very reasonable at around £31. Ended up asking my local garage to fit it(i dident have the right sockets, its very conjested where its situated) Big thanks to TV for his guidance. The old one was permantly open about 3mm so it would never get really warm even with cardboard over the grill.

I also have the similar problem with the cabin temperature. My car is a 54 C220cdi. I have the climate control set to auto all the time but it takes an age to warm up the cabin on these cold mornings (miles longer the my old 02 C200 komp).

Even when I try the auto turned off and the fan set at 6 & 26 degrees the heat output is not great. Also on the auto setting the fan speed hardly changes even if you go from heat (when the cabin is eventually warm) to 16 degrees.

Engine temp seems to be ok & at 80.

Any ideas please??
