Got a problem with my 03-52 c220 cdi sports coupe,

Started with the interior lights playing up, intermittant operation, now nothing.

Then the Get you in lights stopped working.

The auto position on the main light switch turns the lights on even on the brightest days.

I suspect the light sensor?

Anyone had this problen or any clues?

Need to get it sorted before next winter so time to save up £££ if needed.

Why not bring it down to the meet at the end of the month, and SAM would put it on STAR to see what it is for £20

A possible SAM fault

Courtesy lights, Auto light, etc

I have had the same problem. Initially, I thought a fuse must have blown. Checked all of them and no problem there.
The malfunction display does not show 'SENSOR FAILURE' either.
So, it must be the sensor unit in the windscreen mirror.

Trouble is, how do you get to it and what does it cost?

Any ideas, anyone, please? I am in the dark without the courtesy lights.

assuming you mean front sam, it is incorporated into the o/s/f fuse module you may have noticed, near the brake servo. what are you going to do to it?

the multifunction display will not tell you much, certainly not tell you that a light sensor has failed. do you have rain sensing wipers? if not your light sensor is actually quite cheap, perhaps £20-30, if you do it is circa £200 ish - ouch.

There are many sensors in the OCP including the
B32/1 Automatic light switch daylight sensor
A767e3 Ambient light sensor
B32 road ahead sensor
B38/2 rain/ light sensor

All of this lot comes from the front SAM it will have to go onto STAR I cannot see any other way

Sam

Thanks for your advice.

It is a going to be a financial pain as I do have rain sensing wipers.

How would you identify modules for the lights and the wipers?

It is going to be cheap Xmas treat for me this year! Especially after having spent a princely sum on sensors.

Thanks again.

STAR will say what has failed, if something has,,once you have the read out,it may be possible to change just that sensor,,it has been done before

I have a problem with Interior lights, Rain sensing wipers, auto position on lights, and the auto dimming of the rear view mirror.

I take it there is a control module for all these functions that has failed????

Anyone know where it is (silver module in engine bay fuse box???), and a part number would be appreciated. Car is C220 CDi 2002 Elegance.
