I have a C-class W203. In the 12 months I have owned the car the radio (with single CD player) has misbehaved 2-3 times. The display flashes on and off, the audio disappears, and this goes on for an hour or two before it just resumes normal service. The car has a Nokia phone kit (fitted by the supplying Merc dealer when the car was new) and I wonder whether this is causing the fault.
Any thoughts gratefully received.

Hi mark, the phone will have nothing to do with the radio, it sounds like a poor connection to me, maybe on the rear

Yes it would appear that the canbus or Nokia harnes isnt pushed in properly.
What year is your W203?

Alex.

As far as I can learn from the merc dealer as I am having audio problems also, the audio system, satnav, phone are all interconnected and can be corrected by diagnostics!

Thanks for your help guys. My car is a C240 Avantgarde SE - 2004 04 (pre-facelift.) I am beginning to come to the conclusion the phone kit might be the culprit here. The radio mutes momentarily (as it is supposed to) when you place the phone in the cradle. It's not the genuine Merc kit but was fitted by the dealer when the car was new.
