W203 steering squeak.

My c220 cdi started squeaking rather badly at the weekend when the steering was turned to the left. But try as we might we couldnt confirm where it was coming from. Do you think it would be a dry ball joint if so which would be the most likely culprit top or bottom track control arms ? It has stopped now, but no doubt will return:cry:

I have had similiar probs on an old lorry and an old landrover, both were noisy steering joints, engine oil in a needle and syringe cured the noise and as the needle was very fine didnt need to seal up tiny hole in boot, but because needle was so small was hard to push the oil through.

That was my first thought Malcolm, but i have ruled that out as is appears to be coming from the ball joints and its very intermittant which makes it difficult to find :x

The roll bar bushes can squeak,(dose with PTFE) or bottom swivels, thats all there is
