Does anyone happen to have a step by step guide to removing the air filter housing on a 204 with the OM646 engine?

Thanks

Thanks but it’s the actual housing I need to remove so I can gain access to the turbo. I want to avoid breaking any hidden lugs etc if I can.

Take the filter out , you should see what needs to be removed. It won't be rocket science.

It's very easy.

Intake pipe off. Move the DPF bracket at the back (if present). Same for dipstick bracket. Then it pulls forward out of rubber mountings.

Above doesn’t seem to relate what I have found, and since I’ve been searching , thought I’d post my guide now I’ve just successfully got there!

1. Take off the air box cover and remove the filter element, though not actually sure you need to? You might be able to take the air box out complete- I was just expecting some bolts inside it fixing it down, but there isn’t!
2. remove the front plastic air inlet duct (runs across the top of the radiator).
3. disconnect the two cables (from what I gather is the MAF)
4. loosen the jubilee clip on the air box outlet / MAF join (front of it, near you as you stand in front of the vehicle) and pull it backwards, off the air box, just to clear the air box.

now this is where is was stuck, looking for fixings, but basically there arent any!

5. Lift the front edge up (hard) and the two lugs come up out of the metal frame below it (again at the front). Don’t lift too high, just enough for them to be out, because there are lugs at the back that are different, see next step,
6. now pull the the air box forward, there are two lugs that are in holes (two green grommets) at the back, that releases it completely.lift it out.
7. undo the six e10 torx bolts from the heat guard and there is your turbo. Note for reassembly, that two of the torx bolts are longer - the ones that are horizontal into (roughly) the engine block.
i applied a little copper slip to the four airbox mountings on reassembly to help them slide smoothly back in.

hope it helps!

The sensors you have pictured are the air filter restriction sensor and the MAF.

Very rare for turbos fail them selves, an underlying fault leads to turbo failure.
