W204 key?

Hi,

Recently picked up a 2008 w204 estate with 83k miles. It drives well and should be a great dog transporter. Need to sort out one door actuator and it looks like the passenger seat sensor has gone. However chassis good and engine appears good with no chain rattle.

A question. It came with 2 remote fobs with the stubby bit for the ignition but wondering whether there should have been a standard key as well?

Hi.
Most Mercedes come with an item called a valet key, this is a key that will allow you to unlock the vehicle, and start and move it, but i am sure it will not unlock the boot. I bought one for my W163, it was about £35 from Mercedes, they will need to see log book and ID before they order, it comes ready to go.

You have an emergency key in the fob for precisely that - push the little metal piece on the top sideways to release the emergency key. However, if it has not been used in the drivers door you may need to give the lock a good soaking with penetrating oil and wiggle the key in the lock to get it to work! There is also an emergemcy release for the boot, but it's on the inside of the tailgate and looks a PITA to get to!

Emergency key found, many thanks! Also changed the batteries for good measure.
