Hey guys, I'm well aware of how common this has become, looking to see if anyone has actually had it done and how that went with Mercedes? I'm in the UK and they told me they deal with it 'case by case'

My C class failed an MOT nearly 4 weeks ago now, garage told me to phone Mercedes as they'd had others in with the same fault and Mercedes did it for free.

I phoned Mercedes and went better than expected to be honest, took the reg and vin and phoned me back confirming it was accepted to be repaired free of charge - but any other parts that failed I'd have to pay for even bolts..?

Anyway I've been ringing them weekly for updates and now 4 weeks out the part is still on order, I don't have a replacement car and this it's costing me money not having a car and they can't even give me an ETA?

If anyone did have this done by Mercedes how long did the part take to arrive? I'm pretty sure I could've had ordered one myself at this rate. Also if you did have this done were any other costs involved as they're saying I'll have to cover other parts. I've read brakelines sometimes but I did have these replaced 2-3 years ago? I'm not sure of I should expect it to be done for free or if they're gonna add something on to get there moneys worth - since this fault is across several models over a decade.

Its actually bizarre to me they haven't had to recall every vehicle since this fault is so widespread and dangerous - do we have any legal grounds?

Our W204 broke down because the suspension connection on the subframe broke. It was taken to a Mercedes dealer and re-appeared about 10 days later with a new subframe. No paperwork and no charge. We were lucky because we have two cars so could share.
Although this is known problem on the forums, I think MB are keeping as quiet as possible as they don't want the fiasco they have in USA where there is a Class action about the issue and all pond life emerge and claim along with folks who genuinely have the problem. The subframes may be on back order because of demand. The modifies one is a C207 part number which is from the E class coupe of the era.
Hope you get your car back repaired soon.

Thanks, I hope I do to but not holding my breathe. Wasn't this issue also on the E-class? Maybe it was only the saloon version if that's the case.

Yeah I definitely get that feel from them, though it should be a public recall imo - the amount of vehicles its affected is vast and I'd imagine many get sold off before the mot comes round.

Mercedes are replacing so many of these rusted subframes the part is on back order.
Unfortunate if you don't have access to another car, but the dealers hands are tied without the part.
I hope you get a resolution soon.

Yeah I understand, its just the waiting times are a massive inconvenience, 1 month out and no ETA of the arrival of the part let alone getting it booked in.

Probably going to just buy a new car in the meantime and sell this once its eventually fixed. Guess the next question is do I stay with mercedes or move to bmw/audi? Am I correct in believing this issue went up to 2022? Don't really want this hassle again.
