W204 - Speedo brightness

I've had my C class for 2 months now and there's only one thing that irritates me - the brightness of the LCD screen speedo. Most of the time it's fine, but every so often and seemingly at random, it will suddenly become much brighter. This is very disconcerting if you're driving...

Is this a known fault?

No - it's not the brightness of the outer speedo - it's the LCD brightness...

I had the same issue and used the knurled knob behind the steering wheel to the right and it allows it to be adjusted to whatever is easiest on the eye

Ok, the knurled knob turns down or up, the brightness of the outer speedo ring, plus all the other instrument lights. The part I'm asking about is the main display of the speedo, the part that displays trip info, or audio. It's a round LCD screen. This randomly changes brightness.

television ... I don't appear to have an "ambient light" option in the menu stack.
