I bought a 'new' steering wheel from eBay, and tried to fit it this weekend. The car currently has a 4 spoke SE spec wheel, like this..
and I was trying to fit a 3 spoke AMG one, like this...
The car is a manual, so I realise the flappy paddles probably won't do much. It all came apart and went back together Ok, but none of the steering wheel controls worked. So fearing that I'd upset the onboard electrickery, I put the original steering wheel back on, and thankfully everything worked Ok.
So the question is, should it just be plug and pray?
Or do I have to get the onboard computers reprogrammed to accept the new wheel?
Or do I just have to swap all the switches and electronics from the original wheel into the 'new' one?
Cheers
