Looking for some help, my son has a 205 estate and the bonnet wont release cable still appears to be connected ,you can pull the release lever taught and you can hear movement under the bonnet but no joy
Tried pushing down on bonnet etc still no luck now wondering how to release bonnet from behind grill
Presumably there is a catch either side
Thanks

Might just be stuck on the rubber seats that the bonnet sits on...have you tried pulling the lever while someone else tries lifting the bonnet front by carefully putting something in the gap to prise it gently...obviously being careful not damage the paint

have someone pull the lever inside the car and someone catching the release lever that pops out of the grill.
these things are mechanically very simple and lubricating the springs in the hood is over seen as an essential maintenance item.

My S205 does not have anything popping out of the grill...pull the inside lever and the bonnet raises about 2cm the lever is in the gap just left of centre

Get someone to hold the release lever and gently thump the leading edge of the bonnet with your hand. Worked for me and allowed me to lubricate the latching mechanism.

Thanks Ioweddie your trick worked luckily you can pull the bonnet up above the headlights quite easily and it popped open
Think with 2 latches the springs arent as forceful as one central one which doesnt help
Anyway all lubed up and working well again now!
