On my 2015 C300 the NOx sensor has given up causing engine management light to show.

The fault codes are:
P229F62 - NOx sensor 2 (cylinder bank 1) malfunction. Signal is faulty
P2201E5 - NOx sensor (cylinder bank 1) malfunction

I am wanting to replace/fix the NOx sensor myself, but as theres two NOx sensors I don't want to replace the one that is working.

Any ideas on where the NOx sensor is for cylinder bank 1.
Left/right side of the exhaust etc? Just a rough idea so I know i'm tackling the correct sensor.

Any help will be appreciated.

It’s not as simple as just replacing them, you first have to to see if the car is coded for 30o, if not it has to be updated via star to Germany, that updates the car build sheet at the factory, that in turn lets the parts dept sell you the correct sensor, as a common rule now days, you replace both ( if two fitted ) as most, then flash the engine ECU with the later software, if one step is missed, it will throw light back on untill it’s done correct!

Oh interesting.
I heard rumours that there are recalls for the NOx sensors on certain models. Is this true?

Code readers are not straight forward unless you have star, Xentry.
With generic code readers is can be anything linked to the sensor you mention.

Even Star/Xentry is open to misinterpretation.

Biggest problem, remembering what you learned months ago the next time you plug it in. Great bit of kit when you can.

Booked into Mercedes and was refused any sort of contribution towards fixing the Nox sensor even though they agreed it is a very common failing part. Their excuse is that because of the age and mileage of vehicle they will not contribute.

Quite disappointed if you ask me, if they are classing 40k miles over a period of 5 years excessive, then I won't be buying another Mercedes again.

Quick update!

The Adblue pump had failed in the last few days also causing engine check light and the countdown began 'Eng. Not able to start in 470 miles'

Booked my vehicle in with a Mercedes Specialist, got the Adblue and nox sensors delete.

Car drives like a dream and no engine warning lights. Deleting Adblue is the way forward, rather than spending thousands on fixing problems after problems.
In my eyes having Adblue is just a money pit.

It’s a great pity that to keep cars running economically emissions systems have to be bypassed. Cars will run perfectly well without DPF’s and AdBlue but getting caught without them working is almost a hanging offence these days.
Any garage caught doing as much will also be in a lot of trouble. VW did less and look what happened to them...

MOT emission tests are getting quite tight these days, all electronically registered that its been done I believe.... you won't get one and it will be tears

Spot on as soon as that shixe bites me that delete as well. If they were worried about emissions this stuff would be economic to replace and not the current "rape"situation...
