Good Day Everyone.

I ve had a 2001 clk 320 over 10 years.
its been stored for a good while but decided to get it Mot'd and have
a ride round this summer.
Everything works fine but the old fault of having to disconnect the battery
every time i use it to get everything working for that day.
I searched the forums and found quite a bit on this but no answers.
Please can anyone help ?

Many Thanks,

PaulB

Are you disconnecting the battery because it is being drained if left overnight? If so one of the components is causing a battery drain. Either that or your battery is old and no longer holding charge. I'd also be checking the alternator output. If all else fails you have Blackpool Automotive opposite the MB dealership who have STAR to diagnose.

Thank You for your reply.

The battery was disconnected last year when i stored the car in a garage.
When i decided to get it Mot'd i connected the battery and if started first time after a few
cranks.
I left it running while i pumped up one tyre that all ways goes flat when left.
The car passed Mot with just a couple of lamps out.
The battery is a couple of years old but ive never had a problem starting the car when left for
a few days or more.
The problem has happened in the past but not like now as its every day i have to disconnect
to get the windows, mirrors and roof to work.
I am an electronics engineer so i could test the charging voltage etc if you think i should and
if i need to replace the battery i will.

This fault seems to be a common one but no one has posted any answers.

Thanking You Once Again.

So the battery does not go flat at all, you are just ‘losing’ some functionality until you then disconnect, and reconnect the battery?

When you reconnected the battery, did you complete the window reset procedure?

But before i do the disconnect and all ways do the reset windows its an every day procedure when i use the car
but next day the same.

You obviously have a battery drain, easy enough to check, next time you disconnect just put your electric test meter between battery and terminal, switch to dc amps and see what the draw is bearing in mind anything that's switched on ie radio, interior or boot lights etc, tell us what the readings are!

Doesn't sound like a battery drain, if the car starts easily. I think a STAR diagnosis would identify the problem quickly.
