The rear window seal has split on my 1998 clk230 cabriolet (that's the vertical seal fixed to the front edge of the rear window which the drivers door window seals against - part No; 6700239)
I have ordered a new seal but can't see how it fits without stripping the exisiting seal off and, as I don't know exactly when the new seal will arrive, I'm a bit reluctant to do that yet.
Can anyone help with this or will it be really obvious when the new seal arrives ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome.

I should be able to give you the work sheet for this, but you will have to remind me this evening

I have sent the 2 papers, including the one for the side cover.

There is nothing listed for this other than taking the window out, as it is only stuck on you may not need to remove anything,,thats the best that i can do

Many thanks for your help.
I'm hoping that I can renew the seal without removing the rear window but I'll have to wait and see when it arrives.
Much appreciated.

I have sucessfully fitted the new rear window seal. If anyone else is interested here is how it seems to work:
The old seal can be pulled upwards and out of the trim then the new seal slides carefully from the top. There are tabs fitted outside and inside the window that allow you to seat them completely in the channels. Some washing up liquid helps as these are a very tight fit. When the top of the seal is completely flush with the top of the window these tabs can be cut off with a stanley knife. Job done!
I'm sure that there is a correct way to do this job but this way does work just fine.
I have attached a pic to show the job 99% complete.

Good info and thanks for the image. I'll be doing the same job soon as well.
