W208 CLK 320 Headlight switch not illuminated

Hi All,

Recently, I noticed the headlight selector switch on my W208 CLk 320 2001 is not backlit, does anyone know how to replace the bulb?

A lot aren’t by design

Really that's so weird as how would you know about the other settings of the switch in the dark

Count the number of 'clicks' or leave it on auto.

Despite having had my ML for years I've no idea whether it's back lit ... always left in AUTO. The R Class before it was lit on the switch but the rotary bit was not ..... stupid idea to me.

Just found a picture of the switch and it clearly shows the light bulb. Now I need to find out how to access the unit and if the bulb can be replaced.

I think you will find the switch is by design not illuminated. I remember asking self same question re my S203 when I got it 12 odd years ago. The bulb you see is probably the illumination for the rear fog light or front fog lights which work by switching the switch fully on (not Auto setting) and by pulling knob out from memory.
