I have a 2001 CLK 320. Finsihed work today started car and the indicator is signalling left when the arm is in the off position. I have tried the fuses etc but with no luck. The indicator either signals left or right and cannot be switched off.

Any advice would be truly appreciated.

I have a headlight bulb out on that side and a repeater in my mirror out on the opposite side could this be the route of the problem ?

I think that this could be a water problem, with water getting into the electrics

Thanks for the reply!

Thinking on when i checked the light cluster the plastic plate was not fixed and was sat in the engine bay. The weather has been very wet lately!! could this be the problem, if so what are the possible solutions.

I assume that the indicator switch would mean removing the steerinhg wheel and airbag, if that is the case then I have found a independent in the Warrington area, Mercedes Tech.

I dont think my diy skills are that advnced to tackle thsi job

This fuse box hold the relays that if water has got in, will give malfunctions like the ones that you have, who ever is doing the work must make sure that the SAM unit is dry underneath.

Though this fault could be the stalk, it could also be the flasher module.

You are lucky where you live as you have some good people, including Griffiths and the UK's best diagnostic expert Frank Massey

Just thought I would give some feedback on the indicator problem I had -

It was the indicator stalk - had it replaced by an independent - Mercedes Tech in Warrington - £140.
