Older DIYers will remember that you could adjust most car doors at the B Post by means of large Philips type screws arranged 2 or 3 in a slidey plate either on or inside the B Post.
The CLK's got a slight creak on the Pass door over bumps, but the catch has 2 large Torx screws which don't seem to be adjustable.
Anyone know if slight in/out door movement can be taken up?

W203 has the same torx screws that seem useless. Since both models are similar I too would be interested in the adjustment method.

Anyone?

Yes as far as I know the large torx screws are fixed to a sliding backplate loosen the screws slightly one at a time ..basically loosen one screw and retighten just enought to hold the plate in position, then loosen the other screw and tighten up again slightly then loosen no1 again so that both screws just nip and hold the catch in place, (this holds the plate so that you have a starting point to work from)then slightly tap the plate in the direction you want it to move and tighten up slightly, then check the door closing and alignment, continue with this method until the door is closing sweet and flush.

No... I tried to slacken the Torx screws and move the plate but it seems like a fixed bracket, with no adjustment in or out.
If you're sure Xtractorfan I'll back the screws out a bit more, but everything was saying to me 'this 'aint adjustable'.

I will have a look later in the day, either the pillar or door fixing must be adjustable

Sometimes the is a grid plate on the rear that means that the fixing screws have to be quite loose before it will move

Thanks Malc, I'm going careful only because I don't want to hear the tinkle of loose parts dropping into the B Post cavity.

The backing plates are always held captive,,I will have a look though to see if I can find something

Yes it is the striker plate adjustment method we're after. As said, there just doesn't seem to be anything but 2 fixed torq screw points.

Thats easy then, the striker plate has a toothed pattern and so does the plate and the bolts have to be undone sufficiently to allow it to move, it may be stuck, so a little tap is in order.

Doors are adjusted so that the back edge sits 1mm proud of the rear door and that sits proud of the rear wing by 1mm, this is standard for all doors

OK then........ It's had more than a little tap without moving inwards on the door pillar, but I'll try again. Thanks Malcolm.
PS no rear doors for me to worry about (W209).

Let me know if you fix it, I've assumed when mine does it occasionally it is because the B pillar does not attach to the roof and is simply body flex.

Not sure if adjusting the doors will stop any noise.

Good point - the door pillar is just a half pillar on all the W 209 CLK's. Hmmmm..

OK care to be taken when adjusting the windows for noise.

The pressure must be equal all the way around the glass,,if it is too much at any one point it will push it away somewhere else, when the glass tracks are set up correctly you can test with a piece of thin card and move this around the glass and rubbers, so with the card if it is tighter at one point, then this needs to be backed off so that it closes the gap elsewhere
