W210 300TD - To chip or not to chip

Hi, I'm looking for advice or if this topic has been covered, a link.

I'm thinking of haing my W210 'chipped' with one of the power enhancing aftermarket 'blocks'. Has anyone had this done and if so what are the pitfalls if any (the benefits should be obvious!)

Found this oldie by using Search and "chip W210".

There were lots of hits.
