Thanks for previous support. MB said EGR valve dirty.(their computer said so £230 for that info!) Now cleaned, still smokes on accel, more from cold but dirty clouds at heavy accel. Car not as quick as it once was. Changed the mass air sensor,replaced the air filter (it was fine anyway). The EGR works on vacuum, the switch seems fine and its small air cleaner is fine the diaphragm in the actuator is ok, the actuator works if I suck either port . If the switch is initiated from the ECU is the ECU giving faulty data? How can I check the switch?
